Dewey’s reflection model

Ideal

To submit assignments well before the deadline to avoid last-minute stress.

Reality (gap)

I often find myself rushing to complete assignments just hours before the deadline.

Causes/Conditions

  • I tend to delay starting assignments, thinking I have plenty of time.
  • I get distracted by social media or other leisure activities.
  • I lack a structured plan or schedule for working on assignments.
  • Effects/Results

  • I feel stressed and overwhelmed close to the deadline.
  • The quality of my assignments suffers because I don’t have time to review them properly.
  • I lose sleep and feel exhausted the next day.
  • Goal

To complete assignments in advance and feel more relaxed, confident, and prepared.

    Possible Change

  • Set smaller, achievable deadlines for each part of the assignment.
  • Create a study schedule and stick to it.
  • Block notifications from phone.
  • Testing the hypothesis > solution

I decided to break my assignment into smaller tasks, setting a deadline for each. I also set a timer for focused study sessions.

    Outcome of change

It worked, for my last assignment, I completed all sections two days before the deadline, which gave me enough time to revise and submit confidently. I felt more relaxed and slept well that night.
